Actually, karma is just like a message or user rating system. You know, like those "Poor comment"/"Good comment" things on YouTube, or quite similar to "Fame" in our MapleStory. Anyone can rate anyone, once they have made 15 posts on the forum.
After you press "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" button, you would be able to leave a comment about why you raised or dropped that user's karma, you can also leave it blank and simply press "Submit".
The amount of Karma and time spent on the forum influence the so-called Karma Power, that is, the maximum amount of Karma you raise or drop in one click. What else, um... You can't rate same post multiple times, can't karma friends or foes, you can only give and get 1 karma per day (this is to keep database usage low), you can view user's karma comments and see all pluses or minuses people gave to that user from their profile. Also, if you rated user's post, there will be a link to that post on the comments page (same as the latest post link on the forum, that tiny clickable thing next to username), so you can see what post user was rated for. If you rated user from his profile, there won't be any links, obviously.
I guess that's it. This whole system may be buggy, but I checked it and found no problems. Still, if you notice any glitches or error messages while using it, post them here ASAP. If things go bad, I can simply disable it, but as long as it works flawlessly - have fun rating each other. It's not an admin-only feature. :]
As for SwftDrgn, he's no longer in the guild, but he was the first user who registered on this forum after Ether told everyone to move. You can use his profile as an example, click "view comments" and you should see my comment, the amount of Karma given and the link to the message I ranked him for. Tell me if you can't see some of these.
