Re: help with computers
Sometimes lagging can be caused by too many programs running in the background on your computer.
Try typing "msconfig" in your "run" box and then click on the start up tab. You can unclick most everything there ( if you uncheck something and then discover that u need the program just put the check mark back and restart your computer). You can also try and download a program called "Hijackthis" it gives a much longer list , but be careful with this program because you can't uncheck the items, it deletes them and if you delete something you need you will have to reinstall the program.
Hope this helps,
Jack

Re: help with computers
Hey All,
If you haven't run the msconfig please run it, you have no idea what is running in the background.
You'll see maybe 20 to 30 programs running in the start-up tab. Uncheck(dissable) most of them. This will help with overall speed of computer.
As for MS not running a couple of things:
1. Sometimes your antivirus software can corrupt installations - Dissable it before install
2. Are you running Vista or XP in 64 bit mode MS is a 32 bit game and there are problems with 64 bit OS's
3. Did it work before and now it won't work? If so (again) check your msconfig - startup and dissable all non essential
programs. Also run a full virus scan to make sure you haven't picked up something.
Hope this helps.

Re: help with computers
Well, you don't necessarily want to kill all of your startup processes, cuz that can %$@&# things up. Go here to find the startup processes and see if you should kill them or not.jacksplatt wrote:Hey All,

Other things are:
1: You might not have enough RAM for the game to run smoothly
2: You might not have a good enough graphics card for the game to run smoothly
3: You might not have a good enough processor... etc.
4: Your connection might not be that great. Also, are you using a wireless routher? Is it secured with WEP or WPA? If it's not secured, it's possible other people are using your connection, and even if it is secured, WEP is easy to hack. You could find a program that shows you who is connected to your wireless network. Also, networks are generally faster at different times of the day, usually slow when a lot of people get on, such as when school lets out until around 10-11PM at night, or during lunch break, or whatever.
5: Another thing that can cause lag is Windows Update if you have it set to check for and download and install updates automatically.
6: There's plenty of other sources of lag, but I have to go to bed, k bai.
