Finally got around to installing it (since my friend had my microsoft office cd, all my classes rely on that). So far it works great except for winamp which... doesn't. Windows media player is surprisingly good, so I'm using that now. That's about it.

Winamp did work for me on Win7. I switched to AIMP2 since recently though.

Nice. I might get a new computer soon if I scored 2300+ on my SATs. I'm hoping I do, since the new Area-51s from Alienware just came out. Overpriced novelty computers here I come!

Well, winamp works when playing mp3s, but I couldn't get it to play .avi movie files, or any for that matter.

Rike, you should build a computer yourself. It'll beat those alienwares anyday.

That's the thing. The one I'm using currently is one I've built. Everything is really outdated and I'd have to swap out everything for an upgrade. I don't think I can even use my chassis (since it's basically falling apart). I don't want to go through the hassle of buying lots of different parts and putting them together. It was somewhat enjoyable the first time, but I'd rather not do it again (especially because I want liquid cooling for this one).

I've calculated that Alienware's mark-up is somewhere around $300. This is a price I'm willing to pay for the labor, the amazingly well-engineered new chassis, and the brand name. Yes, I am one of those guys who likes brand names.

On topic: I've heard Windows 7 is being released tomorrow to the general public.

I'm getting Windows 7 soon as well, Uni students get it at a sweet $30
