Instead of a single-line notice box, how about a 10-or-so-line newsbox? The forum feels so static and unchanging right now. With an updating newsbox then light users could figure out what's going on with the guild without dredging through old posts.

I think we should have something like that too, but instead, it should be a box where members can post news that must be pre-approved by Toff, Ether, or me, and any future mods

Our current Announcement box allows quite long multi-lined messages. I can even make them scrollable, like it was on eAmped. So no problem with that at all.
But only administrators are able to edit it (and I didn't see any other similar mods), that's why there's a special thread for members to post news that should go to the box. And I didn't see that many news coming yet, to be honest... So, I don't see the problem. All it takes is to simply is rename the box from "Guild Forum Notice" to "Guild News", and get some actual news to post there.
I also thought about installing a portal page, but it's too distracting, and we don't write news articles.

alright, now we need actual news to put in there

I have no idea what's going on in-guild right now.
