That's a big lie. You don't live anywhere near me, do you? I live in like northern Chicago subs (near Crystal Lake and Carpentersville and Lake in the Hills).
I felt it somewhat, but I looked at the clock and fell right back to sleep like 2 seconds afterwards. XD

I live in Virginia, so I don't know what an earthquake is like.

Seriously? That is pretty far if you ask me, must be because of the fault-line that we are on. Everybody did make a big deal out of this, especially my entire school.

Well Rook its an eight hour drive to chicago, and 5 hours by train. The New Madrid fault line is pretty big, and this isnt the first time I remember there being an earthquake here. And I was closer to TN at the time of the earthquake because thats where my school is but my hometown is along the rivers near MO, and IL.
According to wikipedia : An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes are recorded with a seismometer, also known as a seismograph. The moment magnitude of an earthquake is conventionally reported, or the related and mostly obsolete Richter magnitude, with magnitude 3 or lower earthquakes being mostly imperceptible and magnitude 7 causing serious damage over large areas. Intensity of shaking is measured on the modified Mercalli scale.
At the Earth's surface, earthquakes manifest themselves by a shaking and sometimes displacement of the ground. When a large earthquake epicenter is located offshore, the seabed sometimes suffers sufficient displacement to cause a tsunami. The shaking in earthquakes can also trigger landslides and occasionally volcanic activity.
An earthquake's point of initial rupture is called its focus or hypocenter. The term epicenter means the point at ground level directly above this.
