Or if you are permanently logged on and have an active post on the board (one that hasn't purged), you can simply do any sort of activity on the boards and you'll get one.

Also, every Nov/Dec for the past few years there have been karma boosts, where you get usually about 8% of your current karma added on. And one summer there was a thing where if the site creator dude didn't do anything for the site that day, you got 2 instead of 1. I could have had around 4000 karma or more by now.

At each level you get to post on a new board that's restricted to your level and higher, but that's it. It's really just sort of for bragging rights/showing how much of a life you don't have.
