Try uninstalling Norton completely, not just disabling it. And if it helps, try using some other antivirus instead.

but toff if i unistall it how will i run a scan and it cost me money to get D=

Just keep the CD etc and try uninstalling it. You can always re-install.

Well, I tend to disagree, but that'd start another holy war, so it doesn't matter.

I tried vista and it was horrible, but looked nice.

Performance test in a game after I went back to xp:


When I tried with vista the max fps was below 40, with a crap average.

When did you try it? Now, 1.5 years after its release you might find it working much faster and more stable with newer drivers than it was the first time you tried it. Poor drivers are the fault of the companies who write them, not the operating system itself. And you can disable most of the new features in Vista, making it look and perform like XP. Windows 98 also worked faster than XP for me, while programmers were saying that XP was just Windows2000 with unnecessary graphical enhancements which made it work only slower, nobody wanted to switch to a new OS and everybody disliked XP just as much as people dislike Vista nowadays. Blaming Vista just became popular now. I agree that Mac OS X is better, but XP is worse.

I'll wait until they fix everything that can be mentioned as problems about Vista before I switch over. [/run-on sentence]

That's basically what I did with XP, except I'll have to upgrade my system by a larger increment to run it comfortably.
