Mabinogi Heroes - Nexon on steroids?

Post by Toff »

So, our beloved Nexon, together with DevCat, has announced a sequel to Mabinogi. Remember, that cutesy 3D MMORPG Ether once posted a trailer of? And even participated in its beta? Well, forget it. Because what's shown in trailers is... Just watch. O_O

There's not a lot of info about it, but they say it's an Action MMOG.

What do you think?

I swear this is like a mix of a ton of games, and if the gameplay is exactly like they showed, I might play it.

Not bad though.

That looks really really lame. Notice that there was only like one monster, the orc thing? And the part where she throws some ceramic ball thing and it puts out the fire like nothing? I dunno, looks really bad to me.

It looks like all you do is button mash and slash everything. Not much diversity, i'd like to see some magic or something come into play. It looks pretty good, maybe i'd play it but there needs to be more diversity.
Too lazy too make mine right now. Maybe when i hit lvl 70! Toff I love you btw :3

Well, there are many types of monsters, Kam. You probably only watched the first trailer.

I just rewatched it again and she seems to be throwing some big pot full of water.

What about single- and multiplayer bossfights, when in single player it has this nice cinematographic feel, and the character seems to be calling for the "air support" of arrows to kill the spider, and in multiplayer fights a few players can hold the monster on chains, and the rest can hit it. And all those traps evading and stuff?

I like the fact that it might be story-driven. I can play almost any kind of game if there's a good storyline with nicely directed cutscenes that appear thoughout the game, featuring a nice soundtrack. The bad thing though is that I don't really like slasher-games, but with many players it might turn out to be fun.

But what actually made me post this is the surprise turn from the first Mabinogi with cutesy graphics and cutesy soundtrack to this bloody slasher with cutscenes and very good graphics (especially for Nexon). :P

Kinda like maplestory? O_O

And I think as Jin said in that other mabinogi topic, its got jiggle physics.

And the combat looks kinda fun. Not a fan of slashers either cuz they get so boring. But picking up random hunks of crap and throwing it at things = lol. Also, guy getting owned by rock = lol. And the combat has that freeze effect the Zelda The Wind Waker had. That game was fun. Anyway, I'd probably give it a shot.

Two HD videos showing the complete playthrough of the game's prologue:

I must say I'm quite impressed. Hard to believe it's a prologue of an online game, not to mention that this game is a Mabinogi spin-off.

Looks alright. I'd probably get tired of it after a day or two. I can't stand 3D hack-and-slash. In fact, I can't stand a lot of 3rd person 3D games. I'm not entirely sure why.
